AUD/USD Analysis Forecast, June 05, 2015 – Forecast

audusd thursday bnsnlaAnalysis and Recommendation:

The AUD/USD fell 59 points to trade at 0.7727 after a drop in retail sales and a miss in trade balance numbers.  The U.S. dollar was under pressure on Wednesday after more weak U.S. data clouded the timeline for an interest rate hike, while the euro got a lift from hopes for a long-awaited Greek bailout deal.

Australia’s retail sales report has just been released, and it’s come in below expectations. Total sales were flat in April, missing analyst forecasts for an increase of 0.3%. The disappointing reading ends a run of ten consecutive monthly gains in retail spending

Household goods sales were flat while those for department stores (-0.7%), food retailers (-0.1%) and ‘other’ retailing (-1.0%) all declined.

In other data release today, Australia’s trade balance stayed in the red with a deficit of $3.89 billion in April, following a deficit in March of $1.23 billion. Economists had expected a deficit of $2.05 billion in April. Exports fell 6 per cent, while imports were up 4 per cent, the ABS said.
