EUR/JPY Weekly Analysis Forecast, May 18-22, 2015 – Forecast

Weekly Analysis and Recommendations (EUR/JPY Forecast):

The EUR/JPY  soared 68 points to trade at 136.63 as the euro continued to gain momentum this week. Strong GDP data from the Eurozone and a temporary reprieve on a Greek default gave the euro a bump, while the yen weakened on comments from Bank of Japan Kuroda.  Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said on Friday he did not see any immediate need for further monetary easing as the broad trend of inflation is improving steadily. He also rejected the need to review the two-year timeframe for hitting the bank’s 2 percent inflation target as it served as a crucial transmission channel of its stimulus program.

“The deadline we set and our clear commitment to do whatever is necessary (to achieve the target) has significantly changed inflation expectations of companies and households,” Kuroda told a seminar.

While the timing for achieving 2 percent inflation has been delayed somewhat by the effect of oil price falls, a broad trend of inflation continues to recover reflecting improvements in the economy, he said.
